Sports and post-surgery physio from Ireland

Sophie is an Irish Chartered Physiotherapist at our Milford clinic. She graduated with First-Class Honours in Physiotherapy from Cardiff University.

Before moving to New Zealand she worked in private practice and sports surgery settings in Ireland, treating a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries, and worked with athletes across rugby, GAA and field sports, including professional rugby.

Qualifications: First-Class Honours in Physiotherapy, Cardiff University
Registration: New Zealand Registered Physiotherapist (NZRPT)
Special interests: Sports physiotherapy, post-operative care, strength and conditioning, dry needling

Who Sophie helps

Sophie provides evidence-based care through hands-on treatment, exercise prescription, education and dry needling. She commonly helps with:

• Rugby and field sport injuries
• Rehab after surgery, such as ACL reconstruction and knee surgery
• Muscle strains and joint sprains
• Strength and conditioning for return to sport
• Pain that is limiting everyday activities, for people of all ages

What to expect at your first appointment

Sophie will ask about your injury, your activities and your goals, then assess how you move. You will get a clear explanation of what is going on, treatment in the same session, and an exercise plan to follow between appointments.

Do I need a referral to see Sophie?

No. You can book directly online or by calling our Milford clinic on 09 869 6997. If your injury was caused by an accident, Sophie can lodge your ACC claim at your first appointment.

Where does Sophie work?

Sophie works at our Milford clinic at 215 Shakespeare Road, which has onsite parking, plus free parking at Smales Farm through ParkMate at busy times (just give reception your car registration).
